And just like that…

We’re halfway through February already!!!

January is always a whirlwind for me as I’m sure it is for everyone as well. As the holidays wind down, I’m faced with lots of goal setting, vision boarding and planning in detail what my action plans are for this year, both personally and professionally.

I have HUGE dreams and visions for all my students and just when I thought I’m already dreaming big, in comes Neil Moore, founder and creator of Simply Music.

I’ve had many encounters with Neil online. No matter how busy he is, traveling around the world and speaking at large international stages, he always makes an effort to meet one on one with his teachers (there’s over 600 of us worldwide!). But meeting him in person hit differently for me.

Neil’s MASSIVE TRANSFORMATIVE PURPOSE

(MTP) is: To cause a breakthrough in music education, transform access to our natural musicality and to elevate the creative capability of humanity. In short, it is about equipping the population at large with the ability to be musically self – expressed and culturally redefining who is capable of successfully teaching and learning how to play music.

WHAT IS AN MTP?

“Your Massive Transformative Purpose is a clear statement that guides and empowers you and helps you decide what to do – and not to do. It’s your NORTH STAR”

- Peter Diamandis

“I believe that a single person, driven by their MTP can change the world.”

- Peter Diamandis

YOU ARE A WORLD CHANGER!

I have struggled with “Shiny Object Syndrome” for a very long time. From dance, to music, to aerial, to acting, to stunts, to real estate investing, to establishing a dance program… It’s been so much learning and redefining what I really want to do and the person I want to become in this lifetime. Although I believe that nothing is a waste and everything I’ve done up to this point are all valuable, it’s not until I started teaching piano that I feel like I finally found my true HOME.

I always thought I would work as a dancer forever (I still dance everyday in the living room for my cats), but I knew something was missing. And that missing piece was the tangible impact I get to see through my students everyday. I realized that at the core of my being, I LOVE teaching more than being on stage.

But it got me thinking, what is MY MTP? Well, I’m not sure yet! I’m still in the process of reflecting and meditating on who I want to become over the next 10 – 20 years and the kind of impact I really want to have in this world.

But one thing is for sure, I’m very clear about my passion for teaching and impacting students week after week. And I have found something that I truly see myself doing for the next 10 – 20 years!

So hang on, because I’m not going anywhere! I’m looking forward to growing with each of my student, seeing them go through different life stages and being a support in whatever way I can.

Whatever the road ahead may look like, one thing I know for sure is that my love for my students will just keep on growing as we’re all in this journey together!

Teaching in and of itself is already a transformative gift, not just for the students impacted by the teacher but also, for the teachers themselves. I find myself time and time again thinking how incredibly lucky I am to be a piano teacher because I feel a constant transformation happening within me as I teach my students.
